| When it comes to my own promotion, Ali wasn't a 2nd degree at the time yet and I am open about it. Mauricio wasn't present and he gave Ali green light for grading a few of us to black belt over the phone. I don't know why Ali didn't wait a little bit longer but at this point it is what it is. | Especially that there might be people who will question my black belt to start with, I'm also not planning on claiming my 1st degree based on time alone. I don't need it for anything. I teach only occasionally and all the promotions at our club are done by Ali. I would rather receive my degrees than claim them but because Ali isn't affiliated to Gracie Barra or any one else anymore it won't happen anytime soon. 3 week(s) ago |
 | Considering you're not planning on claiming the 1:st degree you still could, counting from BB date adjusted for Ali's 2016+6 possible 2:nd stripe date, I'll cut some slack here and skip voting for now. With a possibility of a future up vote if the date is adjusted to Ali's 2:nd degree date (while the 2021 date and circumstances can no problem be mentioned in the belt comment), if you have an instructor who wants your BB to celebrate getting older in the future and stripe you 3 week(s) ago |

Ali used to teach only 3 times per week. To complement my training I started travelling to other academies. On one of those trips Norbi gave me my purple belt.

This date is a random guess. I only remember that I've come back to judo after 12year break in February 2012 and started training Brazilian Jiu jitsu in the spring same year. My instructor Ali Mason was still a purple belt.
